Since 1964 it has been the vision of a changing leadership team to organise bCyr events so that young people can be challenged, taught and inspired in an environment tailored to their needs.
The vision of bCyr is summarized as follows:
Serving through Sacrifice
Standing out, being different from the crowd and the way of this world. Having the focus, determination and commitment to live for Christ on a daily basis, by placing God's will at the forefront of our lives.
Key Verses: Philippians 2 v 3-8 "Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus"
Encouragement through Unity
Celebrating the fact that in Christ Jesus, we are one body. Drawing strength and encouragement from meeting and sharing with fellow Christians and being challenged to consider the state of our walk with God by listening to the challenges of His word.
Key Verses: Philippians 2 v 1-2 "...being one in spirit and purpose."
Witnessing through Worship
More than the singing of songs, worshipping God is an attitude of our heart and is something that should characterise our everyday living. A genuine attitude in worship is reflected in our witness to those around about us.
Key Verse: Matthew 5 v 14 "You are the Light of the World"
Our History
The idea of running a ‘youth rally’ was first discussed back in 1964, when a number of Bristol Churches felt the need to provide a dedicated opportunity where young people could meet and be taught together from Gods Word.
In February 1965, the first committee was formed the first ever rally followed a few months after in the October of that year.
Originally running once a month between October and March, the rallies regularly saw 200 young people attending. In 1995 two extra rallies were added in September and April to help bridge the gap between the summer youth camps run by Bristol Christian Youth Trust.
Over the years, young people continued to use bCyr as a place to meet and learn together as well as using it as a way of introducing their non-Christian friends to a church environment. The speakers who visit us are encouraged to mix the teaching of Gods Word with the preaching of the Gospel message and there is an open invitation to any young person (aged 11+) to come and join with us.
The rallies continue to exist through the prayer and financial support of Churches and individuals.
