Welcome to the bCyr website.
ANOTHER FRUITFUL SEASON
Locking up the church building after April's bCyr, it suddenly hit me that another season had passed by. It didn't seem all that long ago I was unlocking the building back in September ready for the start of a brand new season and never could I have imagined what God had in store. It has certainly been challenging. Our chosen subject for this term "Fruits Of The Spirit" has opened the way for God to show us that it's not enough to say we are Christians, but to live out each day according to his word.
We need to be "Christ-like" in attitude and this comes from adopting the attributes or "fruits" of Jesus through the Holy Spirit. Our speakers have encouraged us to show love to one another, emit Joy even when we feel down, to be peaceful when life is chaos, to exercise patience when we can't get what we want, to act with kindness to one another even when others are not so kind to us, to find the goodness that God gives to us every day by having a personal relationship with him, to remain faithful in times of doubt, to be gentle when we get angry by the world we live in and to practise self-control when tempted to do wrong.
Jesus experienced ALL of these at some point and therefore we should adopt these "fruits" in our lives. We have also been challenged about our attitudes to worship. I shared during the season about our "heart for worship" and that God deserves the highest praise and the passion which can be expressed when we come to worship him. I was keen to see bCyr become a place where young people come to express their praises and although we have had some fantastic band led worship, we have also taken the step to have some quieter times without the band, allowing for an opportunity to reflect on God and our faith and why we worship him. I felt this worked really well, and would like to continue this into next season. But apart from being challenging, bCyr has been extremely encouraging.
This season has seen a handful of young people join the leadership team. It's been wonderful to have them with us as we look to take bCyr forward, and God is really blessing their gifts in so many ways. Whether presenting, manning the sound desk or stewarding, each person has played an important part and for that I am so grateful. I want bCyr to continue to be vehicle for young people to recognise their God given gifts and to use them through bCyr, with the aim of equipping them and the churches they attend. So I would encourage you to get involved in bCyr, we need young people like you to really keep bCyr going forward as God continues to use it. Feel free to send us an email if you are interested in helping during next season!
Like a lot of things, we ended on a sad note by saying goodbye to one of our senior leadership members, Matt Cox. Matt has been so involved in bringing bCyr to where it is today, through his gifts in worship and with the publicity for bCyr, he will be sorely missed. We wish him the very best.
So, what now? Please keep praying for bCyr, as we meet in the next couple of month's to plan for next year. Please keep visiting the website and facebook for updates on next season, and also look out at Camp for flyers and business cards advertising the dates.
Don't forget: BCYR Xtra on May 17 at 7.30pm. This is a chance to say thankyou to you for coming to bCyr and supporting it this year. A great opportunity to chill out and let your hair down (if you have got any!) and bring your mates along!
May God Bless You During The Summer,
Iain Nash Chairman - bCyr Leadership Team.
